Cozumel island is 48 km long and 15 km large,is completely rounded by 2 types of coral barrier reef,the tipical "wall reef" where large formations drop to 500 meters/1500 feet,and the "crest" barrier reef,closer to the coast and also rich in coral formations and fully colored sponges,both parallel and contiguous all around the island.
All the scuba diving activities by boat are "in drift",means that the divers and the boat follows the current without need to come back to the starting point.
The water temperature along the year changes of few degree Celsius,the highest peak is on September with 32°C/89°F,in March the coldest temperature is no lower than 25°C/77°F,average temperature is 28°C/82°F;
the ideal thermic protection is a 3 mm Shorty wetsuit,for the coldy people a 3 mm Full-
Air temperature is about 30°C in the Summer time and 24°C in the Winter,the weather is tropical humid,from September to November is moderately rainy with little chance of storm and hurricane widely foreseeable from 2 weeks before,however in this period the reef is more rich in marine life because of the higher water temperature.
Most of the dive sites are inside a protected Marine Park,the main rules helps to keep an healthy condition of the barrier reef and are the following:
forbidden of mooring,fishing,knife gloves and speargun use,touch contact with the enviroment,through the trash,take any acuatic life organism,feed the marine life,to use sunscreen not biodegradeble.
There are 4 hyperbaric chambers on the island,2 civil hospital and many private clinics.

5: SEDENA WRECKS

6: VILLA BLANCA BEACH
Flounder,puffer fish,french grunt,trumpet fish and different species of moray eels are granted,pour in coral formation,for the "macro" photographer is an excellent site to take beautyful pics with calm,many species of cleaner shrimps and the amazing Mantis shrimp are common;here we spend most of the training activity;in the night encounters with octopuses,lobsters and usually caribbean cuttlefish.

13: WRECK C-
The most wanted wreck on the island,US Navy military ship built in 1944,used as mine sweeper and than sold to the Mexican Government since 1962 and used untill 1999 for rescue missions and against the illegal traffics.
Donated to the diving community the ship was sank in 1999 and lies in navigation position on a sandy bottom at 24 m/80 feet,12 m height,10 m width and 56 meters/184 feet long; has many cracks that let an easy access and way out to the divers on a dive profile with penetration.
Various colored sponges growed on the metal,big angel fishes shows up on the main bridge,tens of garden eels on the bottom,inside the wreck a school of axe fish,giant king crabs and bristle worms,at the end of the dive great barracudas stands with the divers on the safety stop.divers are able to enjoy penetration inside and out the wreck in one dive.

21: SAN FRANCISCO WALL
2 ways to do this dive:
Deep profile up to 40 meters/130 feet there is a natural concave on the 90° wall with caribbean black coral and distinct vase sponge white and purple colored;
Shallow profile,on the top of the edge,12/15 meters deep but a bit difficult when the current is strong,you can see hawksbill turltes,jackfish,grouper,spotted drumfish and more.

23: SANTA ROSA WALL
One of the most wanted dive site,the profile is usually normal except sometime when the current is strong;you can see a little bit of everything,even a swim through a big illuminated cavern where lives many "rocky lobsters",at the end of the reef 2 big schools of horseeye jacks are waiting for us,then we finish the dive in the shallow reef.

24: PASO DEL CEDRAL
We start the dive on a platform at 10 meters deep,like a "hill" rich in soft coral and sponges where eats the green and hawksbill turtles,many angel and queen trigger fishes,after a little sandy area with few rocks where we can spot the endemic splendid toadfish of Cozumel,maybe a sea horse and a green moray eel,then start the big coral reef formation full of marine life,many barracudas,some nurse shark and a funny swim through with a nice light game penetrate from the roof,in the winter we also see the eaglerays here.
